The original story :

Ferdinand crosses his life as a journey at night, his night. That of the fears, the fears and the dark parts of the humanity.
The front of the war 14-18 reveals him the nonsense and the madness of the world.
Hostile to any shape of heroism, he considers the cowardice as the only reasonable way of resisting.
After a war wound, he leaves for convalescence to Paris, in the African jungle, to the United States during the crisis of 29 and finally in Parisian suburb, where he exercises the medicine.
The novel has for main weft the decay of a gangrened humanity.
The route of the character is punctuated with meetings with women who, in this corrupt world, are its main reason for living.
His road also crosses that of Robinson, a weak and opportunist guy to whom he becomes attached as time goes by.

L'histoire originale :

Ferdinand traverse sa vie comme un voyage dans la nuit, sa nuit. Celle des angoisses, des peurs et des parts sombres de l'humanité.

Le front de la guerre 14-18 lui révèle l'absurdité et la folie du monde.

Hostile à toute forme d'héroïsme, il considère la lâcheté comme la seule façon raisonnable de résister.

Après une blessure de guerre, il part en convalescence à Paris, dans la jungle africaine, aux Etats-Unis lors de la crise de 29 et enfin en banlieue parisienne, où il exerce la médecine.

Le roman a pour trame principale la pourriture d'une humanité gangrénée.

Le parcours du personnage est ponctué de rencontres avec des femmes qui, dans ce monde corrompu, sont sa principale raison de vivre.

Son chemin croise également celui de Robinson, un être veule et opportuniste auquel il s'attache au fil du temps.
